Article Processing Charge (APC) Policy

Our journal is committed to publishing high-quality research articles that are accessible to everyone, without any barriers or restrictions. To support this goal, our journal operates under a gold open access model, meaning that all articles are freely available online under a Creative Commons license.

As costs are involved in every stage of the publication process, from administrating peer review to copy-editing and hosting the final article on dedicated servers, authors are asked to pay an article processing charge (APC) in order for their article to be published open access. The APC covers the costs of peer review administration and management, professional production of articles in PDF and other formats, long term archiving and dissemination of published papers in various venues, in addition to other publishing functions.

We charge reasonable APCs (see comparison below) and offer high-quality services for our authors, editors, and readers. We also use the income from APCs to start new journals, support authors from low income countries and support areas with less funding, so that we can make open access available to more researchers.

The APC for our journal is $1295 USD per article, regardless of the article type, length, or number of figures. There are no submission charges, no surcharges, and no additional fees. The APC is payable upon acceptance of the article, after peer review. The APC does not guarantee acceptance of manuscripts, and there are no charges for rejected articles.

How our APCs are Spent

Our exclusive revenue comes from APCs, which fund the publishing services allowing us to disseminate top-quality, verified research. These charges cover various expenses, including the salaries of our highly skilled teams. The scope extends to journal operations, encompassing peer review management, copyediting, PDF generation, article publication, and promotion across diverse social media platforms and indexing websites, including libraries. APCs also support general administration functions such as human resources and accounting. Additionally, APCs facilitate various initiatives, including providing honoraria to our editors and collaborating with services like Crossref to promote research through DOI assignments.

It is important to note that TURCOMAT operates on a non-profit basis. The APC is strictly used to offset the costs of maintaining and improving our publication platform.

APC Waiver Policy

Our program for fee waiver policy guarantees that every article successfully passing peer review can enjoy open access, irrespective of the author's field or financial circumstances.

Who Can Request an APC Rebate or Exemption for Open Access Articles?

• Corresponding authors primarily affiliated with low-income economies, as defined by the World Bank, are entitled up to 90-100% APCF waiver when publishing in a full open-access journal.

• Authors from lower-middle-income economies, as determined by the World Bank with a 2021 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of less than 200 billion US dollars, may receive a 50% discount on the standard APC.

Please be aware that modifications to the World Bank's list of low-income economies, updated each July, may take some time to reflect in our submission systems. Discrepancies may be observed until early August during the update process. If you have any queries, don't hesitate to get in touch with us for guidance.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept payments from certain countries due to international banking restrictions. Exemptions and discounts are exclusively available for submissions to full open-access journals and do not apply to submissions made to an Open Select (hybrid) journal. Our exemption policy pertains solely to corresponding authors.

To apply a fee waiver please fill out the fee waiver form at: APPLY For Fee Waiver

We accept payments in USD, EUR, GBP, and JPY. We accept payments by PayPal or bank transfer. Please note that some payment methods may incur additional charges or taxes, depending on your location and currency. We will provide you with an invoice and payment instructions after your article is accepted.

We hope that our APC policy is transparent and fair, and that it enables us to sustain and improve the quality and accessibility of our journal. If you have any questions or concerns about our APC policy, please do not hesitate to contact us. We appreciate your support and contribution to our journal.
